Royal Blue and Emerald Green “My New Happy Place”

I started a painting, which always begins with an underpainting. I wash shape and color to the canvas, thus beginning its journey. I always have an idea about color, theme and shape, and on occasion I fall in love with it in this earlier stage, and if I can make myself step away .. I stop!  However, when I do this, I question whether I have given it enough time and energy to call it a “finished piece of art”! To this, I have decided it is actually harder to stop a painting at these magical points and really know if Im finished.

MY NEW HAPPY PLACE  This is an example of the initial energy in the  underpainting that spurs all my work and since I am a semi-abstract painter, these pieces get to live because I see something magic in them.
